Had a lovely meal here with a large group of friends. It's a great menu with plenty of choice, I often struggle because I am gluten-free. I had the Venison Bourguignon but I could even have had many of the others including fish and chips, which is very unusual. Our party all agreed the food was excellent. The staff were friendly, charming and helpful - Briony was a stand-out! Will definitely be back. Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options, good awareness of cross contamination

What a fantastic evening. I couldn’t fault anything. The food was all excellent. The fish and chips was one of the best I have ever had. The bread and butter pudding wasn’t what I expected and I absolutely loved it. Even the beer somehow seemed better than I can think of elsewhere. All at competitive prices for pub grub but somehow done to perfection. The staff were all extremely attentive, friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was lovely. Thank you all for the effort that you clearly put in. I have worked in hospitality for some years and I know that it’s not easy, especially nowadays. You are all doing a fantastic job. We will be back.

Delicious Aubergine Katsu Curry & Merseilles Fish Stew! Highly recommend. We were too stuffed to have desert. They allowed my partner to remain behind for 1.5 hours whilst I attended a workshop. How gracious!

Have been eating and drinking here for a bunch of years now. The food is of a very reasonable standard. The service is always friendly and as efficient as they can be. Nice friendly atmosphere. The volume of people both at the bar and in the restaurant speaks for itself. Recommend to anyone to pop in for a drink or book yourself a table for eats.

After coming into the Newbury for drinks many times; as we've always found it a great atmosphere on weekend afternoons and evenings, we tried the breakfast menu this morning. I had the full English and was really impressed - not only was it beautifully presented but you could also tell they use quality produce. Coffee also really good. We had a really tasty breakfast and will definately be back again, highly recommend.

We had a business celebration dinner for 30 people with pre ordered food. Even though we started later than planned due to guests arriving late, the kitchen was not phased. (Sorry chef)The food was excellent - & between all guests, we covered all the menu choices! Bailey & the others in Aaron's team worked exceptionally hard all evening. I was particularly pleased the food was served all at the same time. No small achievement & the pub was very full . Many thanks to all. We had a delicious Sunday roast at The Newbury and the service was very good and friendly. The food came within 5-8 minutes of ordering and we were pleasantly surprised. The chicken roast portion is quite large! They bring a pan of vegetables to share at the table. Lovely atmosphere and tastefully decorated. I would definitely come back.

First night here for food under new management. One of the owners Jamie was very welcoming, the staff were very helpful, outstanding work throughout and quick and efficient service, very accommodating. The food was beyond tasteful, we had the coconut shrimp and the jerk wings to start, then had the ribeye and masala for mains. After our meal we were directed towards the rooftop terrace to finish our drinks. Overall 10/10 all round for standard of service, one of the best establishments in Newbury, thanks to all staff.
