So so poor. Had relatively positive experiences at cote when I’ve been previously. However I went with friends on Sunday evening just gone, the manager on shift seemed cranky annd annoyed we were even there. As if we were a necessary evil. Ordered fillet steak, which was literally cold. As was everyone else’s steak. As there were a few of us who ordered fillet, I asked if the one put in front of me was rare, to which the manager replied “I don’t know I didn’t cook it”… brilliant. Don’t think I’d ever go back. Rude service, awful food, weird ambience which was contributed to by the attitude of the staff. Odd place. Can eat far better food for a fraction of the price at Greggs down the road.

Ordered the fillet steak for the two of us. The portion was extremely small but that wasn’t the issue. My wife asked for hers well done - it came medium rare. We asked to be cooked more and the waiter took it away. We had to ask where her steak was 30 minutes later and he said the chef is still cooking it. It arrived 45 minutes later. She didn’t want to eat it. We didn’t get any apology. We paid and left. Never going back there!

We came here on a Sunday afternoon for a Birthday dinner and was very disappointed. We have come here multiple times over the years and the service and food were always great. This time however was completely different. As soon as we arrived for our reservation we were met (eventually) by someone who I assume was the Manager, he went off to prepare our table and then did something else. We were left waiting in the entrance for nearly 10 minutes before someone else took us over. We were sat at the back of the place by ourselves and felt totally ignored the whole time. Probably because we had a baby and pushchair with us, whereas the table next to us that kept ordering wine got all the attention. The Manager was also joking with them about driving home which was not appropriate given how much they had all drank. We all ordered the rib eye steak as medium and all of us ended up with different cuts and variations of cooking. The rib eye was awful and none of us finished as it was fatty and full of gristle. We also asked 3 different people for water for the table and only when I stood up and found someone did we get any. When we were all done we were waiting for the bill which never came so we all got up and walked to the front counter. It should be pointed out that we could easily have walked out as most of the staff were sat around eating their dinner (one girl with her feet literally on the table). Unless this place gets much better service and food quality I would strongly suggest avoiding.

Côte never ceases to maintain standards. The staff are well trained too. It is always a pleasure to walk into one of their branches and receive good and polite service and decent food too! Bravo. 👏👏

Rude, inefficient, remarkably blasé. Fantastic location but awful front-of-house attitude. Other brands are available in the immediate vicinity

We came for the lunch set menu and were greeted with really great service. We were offered to choose our table, but to be honest we would have rather been seated as it was a little strange trying to decide where to sit. We ordered the sharing camembert, which was over £9 and while delicious, we were a little disappointed with the size. We upgraded to larger steaks for our mains, and paid extra for sauces. The first steak was a lovely piece of meat however was not cooked to a medium. The staff were so helpful in getting a new steak which I was grateful for, however the second steak was not the best cut and had huge chunks of chewy fat running through it. It was cooked medium on one half, but well done on the other so it was edible but I didn't particularly enjoy it. The staff were kind enough not to charge me for it, which I was grateful for. I accept it was probably my fault for ordering steak at a non-steak restaurant, especially on a midweek lunchtime. The deserts were lovely, and the service is definitely what saved the whole experience and moved this from a 3 to 4 star review. Due to the quality of the mains, I unfortunately could not review 5 stars. I'd return, but I'd be more careful to order an easier dish to cook next time.

The place is beautiful and sophisticated. The waiters served us in a gentlemanly manner. The foods-drinks were delicious and we left the restaurant satisfied.

Amazing steak was really well presented and tasted very good. For starter we went with the garlic bread. i would definitely recommend that. The service i was impressed however they did miss-bill us they were very prompt to correct it which was fine. The restaurants atmosphere was quite busy but that's what you expect from a good restaurant! All in all, nice location in Newbury and well suited interior.

A very busy Saturday night. Lovely aesthetic to the interior of the restaurant. Nice diverse menu. Food came out slower than usual, but they were particularly busy. I ordered a Ribeye steak. It came out beautifully cook, but was like chewing on leather strap. I did quietly mention it to the waiting staff and they insisted it was changed right away. Had a new steak in front of me in under ten minutes, which was absolutely beautiful. A few things did go wrong for our table throughout the evening: long weight for food. Forgot our drinks order. Chewy steak.... We are a very chilled out couple and understood they were under pressure. And our evening wasn't at all tainted by the small issues, as the staff were very quick to amend the food problems. They were very apologetic and adjusted the price of our bill total by way of an apology. I would definitely come back again to eat. Which wouldn't be the case if the staff hadn't acted so brilliantly. For us, the great attitude of the staff really turned it around for us.
