What a pleasure to deal with PB violins. We are away up in North Scotland and required to try out some bows and have our original one re-haired. All carried out with the greatest of ease and convenience, an excellent selection of bows sent to try and a very reasonably priced, excellent bow selected. Grandson needs a new violin soon and (when I’ve saved enough) will definitely contact them again. Shop always busy so that’s a very good sign too! Leanne was so much help too!

The shop has such a lovely atmosphere to choose an important instrument for a person with the specialist like Philip who has a vast knowledge! He and his staff helped us kindly and patiently when we took time to decide the violin. Other staff Leanne helped us with amazing communication throughout!

The lady that looked and worked on my violin was so nice ,polite and friendly but the atmosphere from the guy I presume is Mr brown? Is the complete opposite, he never said good morning or even acknowledged I was stood in or entered his shop ,I found this very rude and felt very unwelcomed and uncomfortable such a shame as the lady was sooo nice

Very friendly and expert advice. Lots of parking nearby and very close to Newbury station. I’ve just started playing the cello again, as a beginner, after nearly ten years away, and booked in to ask if I needed new strings or bow hair. They very honestly told me no to both, and gave me guidance on when I would need to replace both. Very pleased.

One of my favourites, tho I do have a niggle about the cafe being in amongst the clothes... I found quite a few bargains on Tuesday when I was there, in the perfume section now I smell delicious ! 🤗

Philip Brown has a good stock of stringed instruments for sale and he has expert associates in house to repair and maintain the violin family. He is not cheap but you get what you pay for in this case.

Very helpful personnel, great customer service, and honest owner/luthier who is genuinely passionate about making cello's. In the end I haven't bought a cello there but highly recommend it to others because you can find German handmade ones at a reasonable price. The price quality ratio there is better than the shops in London. I did buy their bow and am VERY happy with it.
