Service was very good. Staff were attentive and hospitable. I tried a main meal and dessert. Main meal was reasonably priced and delicious. Dessert was a tad expensive but good.
Whilst the room I was put in was good. It was perhaps a little dated but clean. There were some major issues however. The first was plumbing - the bathroom sink spluttered when using it. The bath tap was so slow it took 40 minutes to fill the bath. And finally, when having a shower, it didn't maintain a stable temperature.
The worst issue was the heating. It is controlled by the hotel, and was completely useless during a cold night. I woke up numerous times throughout the night and awoke feeling rather ill. Whilst I am not sure if this was a genuine issue with the plumbing or that the hotel was in cost-saving mode, it made my experience horrible. It is such a shame as everything else was perfect. But, hotels are there for sleeping. If you can't get that right then it becomes a poor hotel. A few days later I got the flu, and I think my stay at this hotel played a part in this.
Also, I am not sure who chose to make the body gel, shampoo and conditioner lemon scent. It makes you smell like a toilet.

My husband organised a family Afternoon Tea for three as a birthday treat. He chose this establishment because he assured it would not be a festive afternoon tea. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately, the food experience …

Good staff great location but the room was disappointing mold growing round the door and window and in the bathroom. The hot water was on and off and didn’t work one morning due to a boiler fault. |The breakfast was poor not brilliant food and just warm. |Location and free parking for guest great.

Awful…I have previously given this hotel 5 stars…it’s not plush, but it has a good breakfast and is good value. However, this visit I was not able to sleep until gone midnight because there was club music ongoing the whole evening. So load that I may as have been downstairs…everything in the room rattled with the beat…there was no one at reception, so there was nothing I could do about complaining. The night porter was apologetic, but had no power to do anything…totally unacceptable for any hotel guests.

Stayed a few times while travelling with business.
Each visit I have been lucky enough to stay in ghe main hotel, which I believe is the best option.
Not eaten evening meal.
Breakfast is really nice, with a great selection on offer.
I would definitely recommend staying here over your normal chain hotels.
Thank you

Cool hotel that blends the new with the old in a unique way. Proper British Breakfast was good and hearty. Wish I had stayed there longer. Only complaint was the traffic, but that quieted down around 11pm.
